Activities thus came under public scrutiny and government was forced to respond. They told press that reports were called for and the house would be reconstructed at government expense, invoking the Disaster Management Act. It only meant the land mafia was perfectly free to go and the government is holding the baby; and the bureaucrats would get a free hand in dragging this thing for months, even for years. That was why the (hollow?) words about invoking the Disaster Management Act and not a word about invoking the powerful Indian Easements Act.
